From Tim Olk: The newly established Mess Canteen M-5 has set up its base at the Barrington Countryside FPD station on Pepper Road. This unit, formerly known as X-Woodstock FRD, brings several innovative features to the table. One standout feature is the introduction of slide-out trays for supplies during deployments. These trays have replaced the traditional folding tables that were previously used alongside the squad, providing a more efficient and organized approach to managing resources in the field. Photo credit: Larry Shapiro] I recently had the chance to see this unit in action at a local fire incident. It was fascinating to witness how smoothly everything operated with these new slide-out trays. They allowed the team to quickly access necessary supplies without any hassle, which really cut down on preparation time. It’s great to see such practical innovations being implemented within our firefighting community. The transition of this old fire truck into a mobile canteen service seems to be a perfect example of resourcefulness and adaptability. Not only does it honor the legacy of the original squad, but it also enhances operational efficiency. I can’t help but wonder what other creative solutions are on the horizon for improving firefighter support systems. This shift not only modernizes the way we think about emergency services logistics but also highlights the importance of continuous improvement and adaptation in our line of work. Kudos to everyone involved in making this happen!
