The Woodstock Fire Protection District recently completed the controlled burn of model homes that had been offered to them following the failure of a local development project. Earlier reports detailing the training exercises and previous burn-downs can be viewed HERE. This final phase took place at a five-unit townhouse complex located off Route 47, near South Eastwood Drive, just north of Lucas Road. On Friday, December 28th, firefighters began the process by filling each unit with straw and wood before igniting the structures. A small group of onlookers gathered to witness the controlled demolition, including Tim Olk and Larry Shapiro, both of whom captured the event through their cameras. Larry Shapiro has shared several striking photographs from the event, which are displayed below. In addition, a full-length video documenting the fire is also available for viewing. These images and footage provide a powerful visual representation of the destruction and the controlled nature of the exercise.
