Hey everyone,
I just got back from covering what turned out to be a massive fire in Chicago last night. Josh sent over some incredible photos, and I wanted to share them with you all. Here's what he had to say:
---
"Here are my pictures from last night!"
And now for the visuals. First off, we have Tower Ladder 5, which was positioned at the corner of Sectors 1 and 4. You can see the intensity of the situation here:

Next up, Sector 1 was fully engulfed in flames. It was a scene straight out of a movie:

The firefighters were working tirelessly, using every resource they had. Engine 49 deployed a deck gun to tackle the blaze:

Looking towards Sector 1 from the Ashland Avenue Frontage Road, the chaos was palpable:

Engines 49 and 8 were both operating deck guns, creating a multi-versal approach to battling the fire:

Engine 29 also joined the fight, deploying its own deck gun at 36th Street:

As the fire raged on, part of the building collapsed, offering a dramatic perspective from underneath the Ashland Avenue bridge:

Meanwhile, Jeff Rudolph sent over some additional shots. Here's one showing the massive fire seen in Sector 3 long after the interior collapse:

One of the standout images is this firefighter from Engine 8 completely coated with ice:

Squad 1A was also on the scene, utilizing an elevated master stream in Sector 3:

Truck 33 joined the effort with its own elevated master stream:

Even Engine 8 wasn't spared from the icy conditions:

Finally, a hauntingly beautiful shot of firefighters on Truck 33 in the rear:

For those who want more details, ABC Chicago has an article [here](link_to_article). According to a Chicago Fire Department spokesman, the southside warehouse that caught fire Tuesday night will be a total loss.
“Totally involved. … This is a major fire,†read a message posted to Twitter around 9:50 p.m. Moments later, there was a report that a portion of the structure had collapsed.
Firefighters were in "defensive mode" in attacking the fire in a building on the 3700 block of South Ashland Avenue. Despite initial optimism that the fire would remain isolated, flames spread to at least one nearby building. The owner of a printing company, located at 3801 S. Ashland Ave., was present and expressed concerns about chemicals inside that could potentially explode.
It was an intense night for everyone involved, and these images really capture the scale and gravity of the situation. Stay safe out there!
Take care,
