According to a Chicago Fire Department spokesperson, the southside warehouse that caught fire Tuesday night is expected to be a total loss. Initial reports indicated that the fire was contained, but flames eventually spread to an adjacent building. The owner of a nearby printing company, located at 3801 S. Ashland Ave., was present and expressed concern about potential chemical explosions within the premises. As firefighters battled the blaze in a building on the 3700 block of South Ashland Avenue, they quickly shifted to defensive tactics due to the rapid spread of the flames. Despite initial optimism that the fire would be confined, the situation escalated, causing significant structural damage and prompting safety concerns for surrounding properties. This fire serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of such incidents and the dedication of our first responders who work tirelessly to protect our communities. Stay safe everyone!
