Chicago firefighters responded to a fire in the basement of a two-story bungalow at 906 N. Trumbull this morning, but the flames quickly spread through the entire house before crews could fully extinguish the blaze. Tim Olk was on the scene and captured several powerful images that show the intensity of the situation.
According to The Chicago Tribune:
"One person suffered minor injuries and nine people were displaced this morning after a fire broke out at a building in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the city’s West Side."
Firefighters were called to the location around 8:45 a.m. The building, which housed about 12 residents, was quickly evacuated thanks to a working smoke detector. All occupants made it out safely, though one person sustained minor injuries.
The fire caused significant damage, and emergency crews worked tirelessly to bring the flames under control. Tim Olk's photos give a real-time look at the chaos and the bravery of the firefighters as they tackled the blaze from multiple angles.
