On Monday, May 16th, 2017, I was at Star Disposal Service located at 20 South Street in Park Forest to capture some photos of an incident involving an Interdivisional Box and a Haz Mat Box. The scene was quite intense, and it was interesting to see how the emergency response team handled the situation. Here’s what I witnessed that day, along with some images I took.
The first image shows a fire truck from HME arriving on the scene. It was a striking sight as it pulled up, ready to assist with whatever challenges lay ahead. You can almost feel the urgency in the air through this photograph.
Next, there's a shot of the Matteson Fire Department's tower ladder. This piece of equipment played a crucial role in reaching high points during the operation. The angle of the ladder against the sky gives a sense of its importance in managing the situation effectively.

One of my favorite shots features firefighters using a hose line to mop up any remaining embers. Their focus and teamwork were inspiring to observe. These professionals work tirelessly to ensure no hazard remains unaddressed.
In another frame, we see a front-end loader that had unfortunately been destroyed by fire. The damage serves as a stark reminder of the destructive power of such events. Despite this loss, the spirit of overcoming adversity shines through.
A similar scene follows where more firefighters are seen with a hose line working diligently to extinguish lingering hot spots. Their persistence paid off, ensuring the area was safe once again.
Lastly, there’s a photo of yet another front-end loader at a salvage yard fire. This particular loader seems to be part of ongoing cleanup operations post-fire. It stands as a testament to human ingenuity in dealing with disaster aftermath.
Finally, one cannot overlook the dedication shown by individual firefighters like the one pictured here hitting hot spots with a hose. His concentration speaks volumes about his commitment to public safety.
