The incident initially came in as an AFA (Alarm for Fire Assistance), and police reported heavy smoke coming from the building. As conditions worsened, the alarm was upgraded to a structure fire, then to a box alarm, and finally to a 2nd alarm. Fire crews from Westmont and Lisle-Woodridge set up their towers, while multiple hand lines were deployed to control the blaze, which was believed to be fueled by natural gas.
