Autodesk is partnering with Google Cloud Platform to enhance its Media and Entertainment software offerings by integrating ZYNC Render, a cloud-based storage and rendering solution tailored for the VFX industry. This collaboration aims to provide scalable and cost-effective computing services, allowing users to leverage the power of the cloud for their creative projects. As part of this partnership, Autodesk and Google are launching a cloud-optimized ZYNC service specifically for Autodesk Maya 2016, enabling users to render 3D scenes directly on Google Cloud. Future plans include expanding this service to other products and platforms.
“Cloud-based rendering has transformed the way creative studios operate, offering flexibility and scalability that meet project demands,†said Chris Bradshaw, Senior Vice President at Autodesk. “Maya users can now scale their production workflows efficiently without needing additional hardware. This is just the start—our teams are actively exploring ways to bring similar benefits to other M&E products in the future.â€
The integration of cloud rendering into Maya provides a powerful alternative to traditional on-premise solutions. For smaller studios, it offers a fast and secure way to produce high-quality visuals without the burden of data center infrastructure or software licensing costs. Larger studios can also benefit by supplementing their existing render farms with cloud capacity, avoiding costly capital investments.
The new ZYNC service for Autodesk Maya on Google Cloud is now available to users, with pricing starting at $0.60 per hour. Maya users can take advantage of supported renderers like Arnold, V-Ray, and RenderMan through ZYNC.
