China Instrument Network Instrument R&D recently completed the intelligent transformation of the metering warehouse at Lingshi Power Supply Company in Shanxi. This marks the first official operation unit within the Shanxi Electric Power Company to achieve automation in meter calibration and successfully complete the commissioning process.
In recent years, the secondary warehouses of power supply companies in the city have largely relied on traditional methods such as turnover boxes, dense cabinets, and original packaging for electrical energy assets. These methods have made it difficult to implement intelligent distribution, logistics, group storage, and dispatch of electric meters. Additionally, on-site installation management has been inefficient, leading to low productivity and poor organization.
To improve the level of automation and intelligence in measurement asset management, state-level power grid companies have started integrating technologies like mechanical transmission, wireless scanning, and intelligent monitoring into traditional measurement asset management. This has gradually led to the development of an intelligent meter library system covering provincial metrology centers and city (county) power supply units.
Recently, the intelligent transformation of Lingshi Power Supply Company's metering warehouse was completed. This change has replaced the previous manual flat warehouses at the city level with a more advanced system. Previously, the storage and management of measuring equipment were labor-intensive, inefficient, and prone to errors in data tracking. As a result, the lifecycle management of measurement assets lagged behind the city-level storage departments, failing to provide accurate support for the distribution and production of metering equipment, and limiting the precision of lifecycle management.
The intelligent transformation of the meter library not only saves a significant amount of storage space but also increases storage capacity by more than double compared to traditional methods. Moreover, the transformation did not require the use of new sites, allowing for a cost-effective upgrade that automates the entire process of metering equipment, from storage to inventory. It also enables automatic counting of metering equipment cycles, effectively solving issues such as cumbersome operations, low efficiency, and inconsistent accounting in county-level manual meter warehouses. This transformation provides strong support for the lean management of the measurement lifecycle.
