China Instrument Network Instrument R&D recently completed the intelligent transformation of the metering warehouse at Lingshi Power Supply Company in Shanxi. This marks the first official operation unit within the Shanxi Electric Power Company to achieve automated metering and calibration, successfully completing the commissioning process.
In recent years, secondary warehouses in power supply companies across the city have relied on traditional methods such as turnover boxes, dense cabinets, and original packaging for managing electrical energy assets. These approaches have made it difficult to implement intelligent distribution, logistics, group storage, and dispatch of electric meters. Additionally, on-site installation management has been inefficient and time-consuming.
To enhance the level of automation and intelligence in measurement asset management, state-level power grid companies have integrated technologies such as mechanical transmission, wireless scanning, and intelligent monitoring into traditional asset management practices. Over time, they have established a comprehensive intelligent meter library system covering provincial metrology centers and prefecture (county) power supply units.
Recently, the intelligent transformation of the metering warehouse at Lingshi Power Supply Company was completed. This project has significantly improved the previous manual, flat-style warehouse operations that were inefficient, poorly managed, and prone to errors in asset data. The lack of proper lifecycle management for measurement assets previously hindered effective support for the distribution and production of measuring equipment, limiting the ability to manage the measurement lifecycle with precision.
The intelligent transformation of the meter library not only saves a considerable amount of storage space but also increases storage capacity by more than double compared to traditional methods. Moreover, the transformation was carried out without requiring new site construction, keeping costs low while achieving full-process automation for metering equipment, including storage, inventory management, and automatic counting throughout the metering cycle. This has effectively addressed issues such as cumbersome operations, low efficiency, and inconsistent accounting in county-level manual metering warehouses, providing strong support for lean management of the measurement lifecycle.
