A police officer responding to a burglary call was injured in a traffic accident in the Logan Square neighborhood this afternoon, according to local authorities.
The officer, whose name, age, and gender have not been disclosed by the police, was involved in a collision while driving a squad car near Sacramento Avenue and George Street at around 1:15 p.m., as confirmed by Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The injured officer was rushed to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, according to a spokesperson from the Chicago Fire Department. Zala did not provide specific details about the officer’s injuries but stated that no other individuals were harmed in the crash.
