Guangzhou Automobile Group plans to enter the US market in 2019, but Yu Jun, general manager of Guangzhou Automobile Group Passenger Vehicle Co., Ltd., said that listing in Canada may need to wait until 2020.
SAIC is also evaluating the Canadian market this week. John Shi, senior manager of US business development at SAIC, told the website of The Globe and Mail on the Windsor Auto Parts Manufacturers Association on Wednesday: "SAIC is currently trying to understand the Canadian market."
Competition has long been in the heated Canadian market. Japan, South Korea, Europe and other car companies are hoping to share a piece of it, and the participation of Chinese car companies will bring some dynamic changes to the market. In the first five months, Japan, South Korea, Europe and other car companies accounted for 55.1% of the market share in Canada, while the traditional Detroit Big Three accounted for 44.9%. The Canadian auto market is currently on the rise, while the US market has begun to decline from the peak.
GAC has achieved good results in the Chinese market, but at the same time, whether in the Chinese market or in the future American market, it will also face competition from Japanese and Korean car companies. Yu Jun said that Guangzhou's comprehensive annual growth in the Chinese market in the past six years has reached 85%, and the company's sales last year reached 380,000 units. It is estimated that by 2020, sales will exceed 1 million units. He also pointed out that GAC Chuanqi GS8 will focus on the core markets in North America.
