New technology can remove ginseng pesticide residues
Recently, Jilin Province Haotian Bioengineering Technology Co., Ltd. partnered with Jilin Agricultural University to carry out the "Research on the Production Process of Pesticide Residue Detoxification in Ginseng Extract." The expert panel concluded that this breakthrough has reached an internationally advanced level, marking a significant step forward in ginseng processing technology.
As global market standards for pesticide residues in ginseng continue to tighten, the issue of chemical contamination has become a major barrier to the export of Chinese ginseng. In response, the "Study on the Production Process for Removing Pesticide Residues from Ginseng Extract" project employed a combination of advanced techniques, including ultraviolet light combined with titanium dioxide catalysis, bio-enzymes, and macroporous resins. These methods were successfully applied to remove 28 types of organochlorine and pyrethroid pesticides, as well as 17 kinds of organophosphorus pesticides, from ginseng extracts. The results showed remarkable efficiency, with removal rates reaching up to 94% for organochlorine and pyrethroid pesticides, and 96% for organophosphorus compounds.
This achievement not only enhances the safety and quality of ginseng products but also strengthens their competitiveness in international markets. By adopting innovative detoxification technologies, the project sets a new benchmark for the ginseng industry, paving the way for safer and more sustainable production practices. It is expected that this research will play a crucial role in supporting the global expansion of Chinese ginseng exports.
