Plastic ball valves are commonly used to control the flow of media in pipelines, allowing for both on/off operations and fluid regulation. Compared to other types of valves, they offer several advantages. For instance, they have minimal fluid resistance, making them highly efficient even in larger diameter applications. The UPVC ball valve is specifically designed to meet the needs of corrosive environments, offering enhanced durability and performance.
This product is made from high-quality plastic materials such as PVC, PPR, PVDF, PPH, and CPVC, which provide excellent corrosion resistance. The sealing ring is typically made from F4 (PTFE), ensuring a long service life and strong sealing properties. The lightweight design makes installation easier, while the compact structure ensures a neat and aesthetically pleasing appearance. Additionally, these valves are non-toxic, wear-resistant, and easy to disassemble and maintain.
When installing the plastic ball valve, it should be connected using flanges on both ends, with bolts tightened evenly to prevent leakage caused by deformation. To close the valve, turn the handle clockwise; to open it, turn it counterclockwise. It's important to note that this valve is not suitable for regulating flow when handling liquids with hard particles, as it may damage the ball surface.
The working principle of the plastic ball valve is based on linear proportional changes in flow rate. When used for flow control, the valve’s characteristics depend on the pipeline’s resistance and configuration. If the valve is partially open, cavitation can occur behind the disc, potentially causing damage. Therefore, it is generally recommended to use the valve at angles greater than 15 degrees.
The valve body and disc move around the central axis, creating different flow conditions on either side. One side acts like a nozzle, allowing faster flow, while the other functions as a throttle, generating negative pressure that helps maintain the seal. Since the butterfly rod does not have self-locking capability, a worm gear reducer is often installed to ensure precise positioning and improve operation performance.
Operating torque varies depending on the direction of opening and closing. For horizontal ball valves, especially large ones, the water depth and pressure can significantly affect the torque required. Installing an elbow near the inlet can also increase the torque. When the valve is in a mid-open position, the operating mechanism must be self-locked to manage dynamic torque effectively.
Plastic ball valves are known for their simple structure, small size, and lightweight design, making them ideal for various applications. They require minimal driving torque and can open or close quickly with just a 90-degree rotation. Their good flow regulation and tight sealing make them popular in medium to large diameter systems. When fully open, the disc offers minimal resistance, resulting in low pressure drop and excellent flow control.
There are two main types of ball valves: elastic and metal seals. Elastic seals use materials like rubber or PTFE, while metal seals are more durable but harder to achieve complete sealing. Metal seals are better suited for high-temperature environments, while elastic seals have temperature limitations. Choosing the right valve type and size is crucial for effective flow control.
Due to their versatility, plastic ball valves are widely used in industries such as oil, gas, chemicals, and water treatment. They are also commonly found in cooling water systems of thermal power plants. There are two common types: flanged and folded. Flanged ball valves connect between two pipe flanges, while folded valves are designed for easier installation.
The strength of the valve refers to its ability to withstand internal pressure. As a mechanical component, it must have sufficient strength and rigidity to avoid cracking or deformation over time. With advancements in synthetic rubber and PTFE, the performance of ball valves has improved, meeting diverse operational conditions. In recent years, metal-sealed ball valves have gained popularity due to their high-temperature, low-temperature, and corrosion-resistant properties, making them suitable for harsh environments and gradually replacing traditional gate and globe valves.
