Leading drone manufacturer 3D Robotics is leveraging the Autodesk Forge Platform to create an innovative UAV-to-cloud solution tailored for enterprise professionals in construction, telecommunications, surveying, mapping, energy, and infrastructure sectors. This new system aims to streamline field operations by enabling remote data collection and analysis. As one of the early adopters of the Forge platform, 3DR has embraced a powerful set of cloud services, APIs, and SDKs from Autodesk. These tools allow developers to rapidly build applications and services that drive the future of design and manufacturing. The integration helps 3DR deliver more efficient and accurate solutions for its customers. “Gathering site data today is expensive, time-consuming, and often risky,” said Chris Anderson, CEO of 3D Robotics. “Drones can access areas that are unsafe or inefficient for humans, making it easier to measure and manage our environment accurately. We’re thrilled to use the Autodesk Forge platform to provide a complete site data capture solution that saves businesses time and money while keeping people out of harm’s way.” The new solution allows field professionals to perform inspections, surveys, and scans using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). By integrating with Autodesk's ReCap Photo Web API, 3DR enables users to quickly capture and process real-world data in the cloud. For instance, telecom companies often require workers to climb tall towers for inspections. With 3DR’s SOLO drone, this task becomes safer and more efficient—data is captured by the drone and then processed using Autodesk ReCap, eliminating the need for risky manual work. Once processed through the ReCap engine, the reality data—such as 3D point clouds, 2D orthographic views, and 3D meshes—is made available on A360. From there, it can be downloaded and used within various Autodesk software applications for tasks like site monitoring, stockpile measurement, and as-built documentation. George Hatch, Senior Technical Specialist at Autodesk, highlights how seamlessly data from the Site Scan app can be integrated into Autodesk workflows. Amar Hanspal, Senior Vice President of Products at Autodesk, added: “We're excited to collaborate with 3D Robotics to help field professionals gather critical information and make better decisions across industries. Through the integration of Site Scan and Autodesk cloud services, 3D Robotics is opening up new possibilities for our architecture, engineering, and construction customers.” To learn more about 3DR’s use of the Autodesk Forge Platform, visit [https://3dr.com/autodesk/](https://3dr.com/autodesk/). **ABOUT FORGE** The Forge Initiative is committed to helping developers, businesses, and innovators create the data, apps, experiences, and services that will shape the future of making things.
