Leading drone manufacturer 3D Robotics is leveraging Autodesk’s Forge Platform to create an innovative UAV-to-cloud solution tailored for enterprise professionals in the construction, telecommunications, surveying, mapping, energy, and infrastructure sectors. This collaboration aims to streamline field operations by enabling real-time data capture and analysis. As an early adopter of the Forge platform, 3DR has embraced a powerful ecosystem of cloud services, APIs, and SDKs that allow developers to build advanced applications and experiences. The platform empowers companies to transform how they design, manage, and maintain physical assets. “Collecting site data today is expensive, time-consuming, and often risky,” said Chris Anderson, CEO of 3D Robotics. “Drones can access areas that are inefficient or dangerous for humans, making it easier to accurately measure and manage our environment. We’re thrilled to use the Autodesk Forge platform to provide a complete site data capture solution that helps businesses save time, reduce costs, and keep people safe.” Through this partnership, 3DR is developing a new UAV-to-cloud solution that allows field professionals to conduct inspections, surveys, and scans using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This integration enables seamless data transfer from drones directly into cloud-based workflows, enhancing efficiency and accuracy. One key component of this initiative is the use of Autodesk’s ReCap Photo Web API, which powers a reality capture solution. With this tool, professionals can quickly collect and process high-quality data from the field. For example, in telecom tower inspections, where climbing can be dangerous, the SOLO drone captures images and sends them to the cloud for processing via ReCap. This eliminates the need for personnel to take unnecessary risks. Once processed, the data—such as 3D point clouds, 2D orthographic views, and 3D meshes—is made available on A360. From there, it can be downloaded and used with various Autodesk software to support tasks like site monitoring, stockpile measurement, as-built documentation, and more. George Hatch, Senior Technical Specialist at Autodesk, highlights how easy it is to integrate data from the Site Scan app into existing Autodesk workflows. “By combining the power of 3D Robotics’ drones with Autodesk’s cloud-based tools, we’re helping field professionals make smarter decisions faster,” he explains. Amar Hanspal, Senior Vice President of Products at Autodesk, added, “We’re excited to work with 3D Robotics to help field service teams gather critical information and make better decisions across industries. Their use of the Forge platform and integration with Site Scan represents a new way of working for our AEC customers.” To learn more about how 3D Robotics is utilizing the Forge Platform, visit [https://3dr.com/autodesk/](https://3dr.com/autodesk/). **ABOUT FORGE** The Forge Initiative is designed to empower developers, businesses, and innovators to build the next generation of products and services.
