LAS VEGAS, Nov. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — This week, over 10,000 professionals from the design and construction fields are gathering in Las Vegas for Autodesk University (AU), the premier event for architects, engineers, designers, and digital artists. Hosted by Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK), this annual conference runs for four days and offers a unique opportunity for attendees to learn, network, and explore new ways to shape the future of design and making.
During the General Session, Autodesk President and CEO Andrew Anagnost will share his vision on how automation, the integration of design and manufacturing technologies, and evolving work practices can lead to more sustainable and efficient solutions. He’ll be joined by industry leaders like CTO Scott Bourdin, Robotics Director Erin Bradner, and Beth Comstock, former GE Vice Chair and author of “Imagine It Forward.â€
Anagnost emphasized that with global population growth, urbanization, and rising middle-class demand, the need for innovative solutions is greater than ever. “We must combine automation with human creativity to design and build in new, resource-conscious ways,†he said.
In addition to the keynote, the event features specialized sessions for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) and manufacturing sectors, as well as TED-style talks that highlight the convergence of industries and the impact of emerging technologies.
Attendees will also get a firsthand look at real-world applications through the AU Expo. Examples include a robot-enabled shipping container that can 3D print custom building parts on-site, a sustainable concrete flooring system, and a Formula One car redesigned using generative design and visualized in virtual reality.
Throughout the event, Autodesk will unveil new tools, partnerships, and initiatives aimed at helping customers adapt to the future of manufacturing. Updates will be shared regularly on the company blog, ADSK News.
This year’s AU Las Vegas is carbon neutral, achieved through partnerships with ClimateCare and Burn Cookstoves. Autodesk has supported Burn Cookstoves in avoiding 40,000 metric tons of CO2 to date. The initiative is part of the Acumen Fund, which focuses on sustainability and poverty alleviation.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is the recipient of the 2018 AU Donation Drive. Autodesk software is being used to help plan refugee settlements more efficiently, improving living conditions for millions displaced by conflict and disaster.
HP is the event’s diamond sponsor, supporting the largest AU conference yet.
Autodesk University brings together over 22,000 people across 10 countries through live events, while more than 2.5 million engage online via AU Online, which provides free access to learning resources, webinars, and expert talks throughout the year.
