Toyota Maintenance – How to Change Cabin Air Filter

Before you change the cabin air filter, make sure you have the right one for your vehicle.

The cabin air filter is located behind the glove box and normally is inserted vertically.
How To Change Cabin Air Filter
- Open the glove box and empty its contents. Look for a screw on the lower right side of the glove box and remove it if present (not all models include this).
- Locate plastic tabs along the edges of the glove box. Pressing these will allow the glove box to open further.
- Find a long, rectangular plastic strip near the top. You’ll see two small tabs on either side. Squeeze them gently to release the strip, which will expose the cabin air filter.
- Remove the old filter and insert the new one, making sure it's oriented correctly (usually with the arrow pointing toward the front of the car).
- Reattach the plastic strip and carefully reassemble the glove box by reversing the steps.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully replaced your cabin air filter. This simple maintenance task can significantly improve the air quality inside your vehicle, especially when using the AC or heater. It also helps your HVAC system work more efficiently, saving you money on energy costs in the long run.
