Jiujiang Petrochemical uses new technology for pump lubrication

The lubricating oil consumption dropped significantly, from 24 barrels to just 2 barrels. After implementing oil mist lubrication technology in the Jiujiang Petrochemical Catalytic Unit 16 pumps, the oil usage was reduced by 70% to 80%. This not only ensured optimal lubrication for the pumps but also extended the bearing service life by 3 to 6 times, while simultaneously reducing the workload for operators. Oil mist lubrication represents a major shift from traditional lubrication methods. The system uses a specialized setup to atomize oil into fine mist within an oil mist generator and then delivers it directly to each lubrication point, ensuring consistent and efficient lubrication of pump bearings. This approach minimizes the amount of lubricant required. Previously, one pump required about 6 barrels of oil every three months, but now it only needs around 1 barrel every six months. Additionally, this technology eliminates the need for cooling water in the bearing housing, resulting in over 80% water savings. The plant is actively promoting this innovative technology across the facility. To ensure proper implementation and maintenance of the oil mist lubrication system, all personnel involved are being trained to understand its operation and control parameters. In the coming weeks, the catalytic workshop will organize special training sessions during shift times, with factory engineering technicians attending to provide on-site explanations and practical insights. This initiative aims to improve overall efficiency and reliability while supporting long-term operational sustainability.
