Chicago’s newest Engine Company was officially dedicated today. Engine 2, named the Christopher Wheatley, officially went into service this week and was formally christened this morning in a special ceremony. Attendees included Karl Klotz, Gordon J. Nord, Jr., and Larry Shapiro, who were on hand to capture the moment. While the full set of images is still being edited, here are two from Larry Shapiro's collection.
The event took place near the Chicago Firefighter Memorial, drawing attention from local residents and media alike. The christening marked a significant milestone for the Chicago Fire Department, as the Christopher Wheatley joins the fleet as a vital part of the city’s emergency response system.
